Author Visits for Elementary Schools

Bring Letitia into your classroom. Every school author visit is built around your curriculum — in person or on Zoom, for Grades K–5, anywhere you teach.

    In-Person & Virtual Author Visits

    In-Person Visits

Letitia travels to schools for visits around Soar. She prefers to meet with students directly in their classroom for more meaningful discussions. She only visits schools where the students have already read Soar. If she is already visiting a school for Soar, she will happily do a picture book read-aloud visit as well, in either an English class or French class. Contact for availability and travel details.

    Virtual Visits

Live, interactive Zoom or Google Meet sessions. Perfect for any school anywhere. Sessions are engaging and designed to fit into a standard class period. She only does visits with students who have already read Soar.

What Schools Say About the Visits

Hendrix and Ryder's migration story kept our students on the edge of their seats! The brothers' changing relationship added a layer of real-world drama that truly connected with our kids, making every step of their journey feel personal. Soar is a must-read for any elementary classroom. It is a powerful, high-stakes story about family and perseverance that will keep your students hooked until the very last page!

Our Elementary Book Club at Eastern Hills Christian Academy recently read Soar by Letitia Burton, and our students absolutely loved it! The students quickly connected with the main characters, Hendrix and Ryder, and especially enjoyed the humor of Huber throughout the story. The book kept our readers engaged from beginning to end and sparked wonderful discussions during book club meetings.
We were also incredibly thankful that Letitia Burton took the time to set up a Zoom session with our students after they completed the book. The opportunity to meet the author and ask questions made the experience even more meaningful and exciting for everyone involved. The stickers she sent were also a huge hit with our students!
We are already hoping for a sequel and cannot wait to see what happens next in the story. Thank you, Letitia Burton, for creating such a memorable experience for our readers!

Bringing an Author Visit to Your School

Teachers book these elementary school author visits because the session fits neatly into a normal school day: one class period, a live conversation with students, and follow-up work your class can do on its own afterward. Before the visit, most teachers use the free teacher resources — discussion guides, the osprey migration map, and activity sheets — so students arrive with questions ready.

After the visit, the classroom keeps going. The free osprey photo gallery gives students real photographs of the birds they just heard about, and Soar stays on the shelf as the book that started it all.

    Students Bring Soar to Life
